Breathe & Flow

Over the past year, I've been really committed to living a healthier, happier life. Now, it's not that easy. It takes a lot of work. And when I say work, I mean I'm not perfect. I love sleeping in and occasionally missing my 7 a.m. workout class and I freaking love donuts when they're around and you know what? I LOVE DIET DR. PEPPER. But, these things make me human and make me real. I wouldn't change that nor deny it.

So, as you may have guessed it, it takes some pushing to get me interested in working out. I've done it all in terms of classes, but nothing I really ever "got into." Since I've worked at Pinterest though, I've been going to Ritual Hot Yoga  and conveniently, they have a location a block away from my office. Definitely think this was fate.

It's no surprise how obsessed I am with Ritual, but truly, I feel like it's the first yoga studio where I actually "belong" – no matter my skill level. Okay, okay. That may sound lame, but I freakin' promise you. Try a Ritual yoga class out and see for yourself. I betcha $10 you'll agree with me at the end.

Over the past several months of doing Ritual, I've become more aware of my body. How I sit, how I breathe, and most importantly, how my body feels in that moment. If you go 10,000 miles a minute like I do, try practicing yoga for a bit .You'll slow down a bit and become a hell of a lot more self-aware in the process. And when I say self-aware I don't mean self-conscious.

And while I love the flow, the teachers at Ritual make the experience. Did you know the teachers at Ritual are paid as full-time, salaried employees, equipped with health benefits, vacation time, and sick time? THIS IS AMAZING, GUYS. Most teachers in the Bay Area and the U.S. are independent contractors and it's tough to live a normal life – like paying rent and other just basic things. The teachers always come into every class with great energy, positivity and a willingness to share their knowledge with the students. I have a few favorites that get me so stoked to go to, but truly, I'm putting myself in the hands of my teacher when I go. I feel so thankful they're treated with care and respect and am grateful that they show me the same every time I step inside.

If you haven't checked out Ritual, I'd love to take a class with you! I promise, you won't regret it!!
