Afternoons at Arrowood

Hi all,

I mentioned this on my blog post Monday, but over the weekend I had the opportunity to head to wine country with some of my favorite blogging frandz and check out Arrowood Winery

Since moving to California, I've been to Napa and Sonoma a handful of times, but to be honest, it's a bit overwhelming. There are so many places to explore how do you choose?! I love venues that aren't as crowded and tucked away – almost like hidden gems. Luckily, the vibe at Arrowood was just what I was looking for.

Located an hour or two outside of San Francisco, Arrowood Winery & Vineyard sits in Glen Ellen and is fashioned after a New England farmhouse. Immediately upon entering, the tasting room is warm and inviting with a fireplace greeting you and a glass of their delicious Cabernet Sauvignon waiting.

Winemaker Kristina Werner joined us this specific afternoon to not only share her story on how she got to Arrowood, but the story of the wine she and her team makes. We started the day off with a beautiful wine and tasting menu catered by The Girl & The Fig. Side note: If you haven't been to The Girl & The Fig, GO! It's amazing and so unique to Sonoma.

Here's the rundown of the menu:

1. Roasted baby heirloom carrots, saffron crema, and honeyed almonds paired with Saralee’s Vineyard Viognier.

2. Then, for my favorite, we noshed on house ground polenta, braised oxtail, cocoa nibs, winter squash and sage pesto. Polished it off with their Monte Rosso Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon that was the perfect complement.

3. We finished off with mouthwatering black pepper ravioli, triple cream mornay and black truffles while trying the Arrowood Proprietary Red Wine.

At the end of the evening we left stuffed, giddy (most likely from the wine), and very thankful.
