Mini Home Tour

After living in this San Francisco apartment for around 3 (or so) years, we’ve finally coming to a fairly good place when it comes to the decor. Initially, Tom and I wanted to just get the apartment looking decent which ultimately meant purchases were made on the fly and without much thought. Eeep!

As we’ve continued to grow into our space and style together, we’ve looked for ways to refresh our tiny little 600 square foot apartment.

Super excited to share a small snapshot of our place, some of our favorite items, and some surprises in between!

THE BEDROOM

Our apartment is oddly shaped – with the bedroom being double the size of our living room. Alas, the bedroom has become one of my favorite places to do all the things during quarantine. That includes: sleeping, reading, exercising, taking work meetings, a photo studio, and anything else you can imagine.

I love the rug we found from Rugs USA that feels slightly bohemian but doesn’t over power the space. It provides a nice foundation to our creamy beige walls. I also love the artwork we found from Society 6 and honestly, am thinking of going back for seconds and thirds. Even better? THE ART COMES FRAMED. Woo!

And because I love a good accessory moment, I have a variety of hats that were just asking to be proudly displayed. While the methodology used to hang them (nails!) isn’t ideal, they sure look purdy.

It still feels a bit cluttered to me (evidence underneath the bed), but isn’t that the beauty of life?

THE LIVING ROOM

We personally spend the most time in our living room (duh!), but it’s because we it’s close to the kitchen and probably the coziest part of the house. Because Tom’s an architect he has a TON of thicccc books that were cool and made for a great book shelf foundation. For me, I take quite an interest in coffee table books or self help books (or really books in general) and hoard them. We’re also in the process of color coding them, but this EQ3 bookshelf is pretty fantastic.

To give the space life, we also wanted to add a ton of greenery. I think it adds a nice splash of color to the white cabinet and bookshelf too. Speaking of cabinet, this is from IKEA where we decided to add gold hardware to make a it bit more chic. Gotta love those IKEA hacks. It’s home to my husband’s extensive alcohol collection that’s getting a liiiiiittle out of hand.

And the other side of the living room where you can find me most hours of the day. I LOVE this Article couch. It’s comfy and handles a 70 pound Pitbull Husky, too. As for our coffee table, this is Tom’s – I guess straight out of Copenhagen? And shout out to Rugs USA once more because they definitely know what they’re doing.

We also have a geo-design on our wall is one of my favorites because it adds so much to the living room! I was traveling for work and when I came home, Tom surprised me with the accent wall. It’s made with gaffer tape, so it’s easily removable (for all you renters out there!).

And if we’re talking about another favorite piece, I’d have to say it’s above the couch and it’s the Go F_ _ _ Yourself print by James Victore x GFDA. It’s a test (as it says on the bottom) of when you see it, what’s your initial knee-jerk reaction? It’s a good reminder to be creative, be curious and see every possibility.
