Partnership

I've been thinking a lot about love a lot lately. Maybe it's because Valentine's Day was earlier this week or maybe it's just because I've been seeing an overwhelming amount of people on my Facebook and Instagram feeds getting engaged.

NOTE: This is NOT an engagement post so sorry 'bout your luck. :)

I've lived with a ton of other people in my life (roommates, parents, etc.) but never a boyfriend. So, when I did, I experienced a lot of firsts. The majority of the things were "new." At least, to me.

Luckily, Ittai's a really good sport and helped make the transition super easy. Yes, moving in with a significant other is a big leap, but if you're committed and open to compromise, then I think it'll be smooth sailing.

So, I'm going to share a few things I've learned (and still am learning) about living with a significant other. Curious if y'all feel the same:

Above all, compromise is key.  Whether it's how you're going to decorate your home to how you load the dishwasher, take time to discuss how you can find a common ground on how to do things

Boundaries will be tested. If you live in a city like I do, your quarters are small. We're in a 1 bedroom, but that being said...it's still fairly small. And sometimes, you just need some space. And contrary to popular belief, space is GOOD (in doses!) I will say that it is hard to juggle time alone, couple time, friend time, family time, and uh...a lot of other "times."

You'll see each other at your very best and very worst. For me, I wake up with my mouthguard on, messy hair, and semi-cranky because of an early wake up call. SO SEXY. Not. But with all the bad, come the good. The very good. You celebrate each other's successes, laugh at the mundane, and everything in between.

You'll argue. AND THAT'S OKAY. Seriously. Not every moment is the happiest or the best and if you do argue, remain cool, calm, and collected. Easier said than done, but trust me...it's for the best.

You get to spend every day with your best friend. I'll spare you the mushy stuff, but cohabitating with Ittai has been one of the best thing I've ever done. Not only am I so happy to share a space with him building our life together, but we have fun. We laugh. Cry. Argue. Learn. Share. I've grown so much in this past year (almost!) and am so thankful for making the leap.
