BCBG Sample Sale

Jacket: BCBG (similar and on crazy sale!) | Skirt: Crossroads Trading | Shoes: Sutro Footwear

If y’all follow me on Instagram, you probably saw my series of Instagram Stories chronicling a recent dilemma I had. A few weeks ago, BCBG had a sample sale in San Francisco and naturally, I was intrigued.

I’ve been a lover of BCBG for awhile, but at times, their price point is just a liiiiitle too stiff. That being said, I went to look and crammed in a tiny room were 5 or 6 racks full of evening dresses and jackets. If we’re being honest, it was VERY picked over and not too much left.

After going through some racks, I found this jacket and was pleasantly surprised. What normally would be a $600 jacket was now $200. But how would I wear it?? I went back and forth with reasons on WHY I shouldn’t, but in the end, my love for a good deal won and here I am – with a badass jacket that fits like a glove.

In the end, a few important things to follow when you’re visiting a sample sale of any kind:

Timing is everything: For any sample sale with limited qualities, the best is to go early and at the beginning of the sale. The best stuff is there for your choosing and when you go towards the end, more often than not everything is pretty picked over.

Grab first and then figure it out: I have an emotional attachment to clothes (not healthy, but that’s my truth) so when I go to a sample sale from a brand I love, well…things get emotional. More often than not, if I see something that interests me, I pick it up until the end of my search. After I looked throughout the sale I then decide if it I a) actually like it or b) picked it up impulsively.

Don’t love it? Don’t do it: Some people get SO excited about sample sales but more often than not, sales happen because they have too much stock. AKA: Things didn’t sell for a reason. Also, don’t waste your money if it doesn’t fit perfectly or right or you don’t dig it. Definitely not worth it!
