P I Z Z A

When I first moved to San Francisco, I was pretty clueless. I constantly questioned the bus system (seriously, I'm still confused at times) and whether it's "The BART" or just "BART." That aside, it took me awhile to find places that I could call my go-to's.

Luckily, I had a friend living on Divisadero and Hayes so I'd often walk from Pac Heights to her place. Needless to say, NOPA quickly become my favorite neighborhood and I quickly spent all of my time there. From grabbing coffee at Mojo to picking up unique trinkets at Rare Device, NOPA is a hotbed of fun activity and really doesn't disappoint.

And being from Ohio, I like the simple pleasures in life. Like Midwestern friendliness and unpretentious but damn good pizza. This brings me to my latest visit at Little Star. A few weeks back, I carbo-loaded on delicious deep dish before my strenuous 5k in Big Sur.

To step back a bit, Little Star is a San Francisco institution for me. It's been around for a long time and with two other locations (one in the Mission and the other in the East Bay), it's presence is not only seen but tasted.

So, what if you're not a deep dish fan? Well, while I consider that grounds for terminating a friendship don't fret – they have thin crust! And salads! And meatballs! And chicken wings. Speaking of chicken wings, those bad boys are on the happy hour menu and it is a DAMN deal.

My faves?

  • Spicy Chicken Wings
  • Deep Dish Yukon Golds & Potato
  • Thin Crust Italian Combo
  • Caprese Salad
  • All da beer

If you haven't had the chance to check 'em out, go on! I'd say it's the best 'za you can get in these parts!  And if you're lactose intolerant, well, then godspeed.

Cheers!
